Festival and a funny incident related to it..

Temple festivals are something which I enjoy and love to be part of always especially when it’s near home. I never enjoy other festivals that much, like I do for these two. Those two festivals are in December, first Ayyappan pattu and then the Temple festival. I wait for December's last week, always and always...

It's great to be part of a festival with well decorated stage, lights, elephants, panchavadyam, procession etc.(to add some masala, you can say some beautiful girl’s too :-P).When festival is on I forget everything else and its a nice feeling listening panchavadyam. The reasons which hold me close to festivals are elephants and panchavadyam.Elephants are wonderful, its a special feeling to be with them..Well I hope, I can own one huge elephant one day. I don't know when it’s going to happen, fingers crossed ;-).

Ayyappan pattu is just for a day, and on the next day many who stay near the temple goes to Sabari mala (after long 30 days of vrath/noyambu).Temple festival is for five days (It's too short I feel... those 5 days goes like a rocket). On the last two days there will be procession with elephants and panchavadyam. The festival ends on the sixth day morning with fantastic fire works(hmm.. i enjoy it from a good distance)on the temple ground (i love playing football in that ground ).

Talking about crackers there was a funny incident (thank god! it turned funny) which happened when I was in my 7th standard. My entire compound buddies were sad the very next day of the festival.Main reasons behind the sadness were that we have to wait till next year for the festival to come and also the Christmas vacation coming to an end. Seeing bunches of unignited crackers the next day after festival on the ground, some in my gang suddenly thought of bursting it. Initially the plan was to untie all the tied up crackers, but suddenly the plan got changed. Some came up with a new idea ‘hey we will burst it in a bottle, how is it?’ and few responded ‘yep, we will try’. Next thing was to  search for a bottle, after few minutes they found a small glass bottle, Ha ha:-D.Even after repeated warnings and 'no, no' they didn't listen to me and my friend. They dug a small hole in the ground, and kept the bottle filled with crackers in it and covered it with sand and news paper. None of them were ready to fire it and at last my bro did the job and within seconds BOOM! .It exploded with a loud sound like a small bomb (may be a bomb ha ha :-D, noise was big).

After the ear breaking explosion, there was silence for few minutes... I was scared of such an explosion and was expecting it from the start. I came out safe first from the back side of a tree :-P. Every one in the scene started checking their body, for a minute they thought nothing happened!. After few minutes, blood started pouring from few guy’s body through the small wounds; my bro got a small piece of the bottle from his back thigh. One other friend also got hit with some small pieces on his shoulder and neck (thank god, nothing serious happened to them). After every one got hit except few, there came my cousin bro who was on the wall of a pond nearby, with a loud and non-stop laugh.Even though he too was a part of the plan, he behaved as if he didn't know anything and started to claim that he is safe. We had a loud laugh when we noticed  few small pieces of the bottle in between his nose and eyes with small drops of blood on it (he remains numb, whenever we talk about that incident, he he :-D). At that age it was scary and now its funny..

I am still not confident of bursting any type of crackers after that incident. Thinking about crackers and whenever I see small children enjoying themselves bursting crackers, BOOM!, the heavy sound of that bottle comes to my mind. I believe, crackers should be banned esp. those which heavily pollutes the environment and makes huge noise.
